QUESTIONS:

It was nice to meet you last weekend. My husband and I enjoyed our time at the farm! Since this is our first time doing the CG, I just had a few questions…

  1. By the time we were finished working there was no longer peas or broccoli in the cooler. Can we request items like this to be saved or set aside?
  2. My sister comes down to visit from time to time, would it be ok for her to work in my husbands place when she visits?

ANSWERS:

You are not alone on the produce supply issue. There is not much in abundance yet besides lettuce and zucchini. Sometimes we put a quantity limit on items, which we did last week on broccoli but not this week, so that everyone has the possibility of getting some. In a month that will not be an issue, but now it is the nature of starting the season.

I am rethinking the pea situation. I grew a small amount as a trial to supply the New Season’s chain, as a new crop for us. They just got their first peas yesterday, which is not fair to them. So I am thinking that there will be very limited amounts for anyone else in order to keep my commitment to them. They are a nice treat when we have them, and they may remain just that,

You are the first person I am sharing this with, so I’m thinking a little “on my feet” here. These thoughts have started swirling in my mind the last couple of days because I am shorting everybody, which bothers me, but there just is not enough product on this trial planting of peas. We have a lot of produce coming, so we will have to let the season take its course.

Your sister helping would be okay. Others have done that occasionally, which is fine. One member wanted to bring her neighbor and their kids, and I said no to that. They can join if they want to work.

Thanks for asking. Hope these answer help.
