Good evening again,
It looks like the very hot summer is finally over and we can enjoy a mix of cool and warm days for the fall.
We are giving you a couple veggies associated with summer. One is the last honeydew melons. This has been a good year for the melons with all their sweet juicy flavors. These were set aside so you could have a few more bites to enjoy this week. The other summer item is the yellow sweet corn. We know that everyone we have talked to has been ecstatic about the supersweet taste.
The beet variety this time is Chioggia. Several years ago a CS Lewis first grader called them “target beets” because of their concentric circles of white and red inside. Their look sliced is quite unique and stunning and have a nice flavor. Lettuce is still a little scarce right now but we are able to find some nice green leaf for you this week.
Our smaller green cabbage type is looking better on the current planting. We have battled some insects as they want to chew on the heads. We have cleaned them up and they are ready for your coleslaw or ?? The hot weather really pushed the cauliflowers, with several bins at each picking. The orange is quite beautiful and healthy so we are sharing that one with you this week.
Thanks,
Farmer Brown and His Mrs.
