Hello folks,
Here we are at the end of the summer CSA season. It has been an interesting year as we went from week to week picking out a good mix of produce for you from what was plentiful at that time. That is true again this last week as I wondered what we would have since many crops are done.
The end of this season coincides with the early end of the broccoli season. We picked the last today and are sharing some with each of you. The same is true with the lettuce. Your red leaf appears to be the last pick since the rest is small and much of it is getting discolored on the bottom from all the continuous moisture. But we found enough for your last salad from local lettuce.
We are giving you a little larger portions of yellow onions and red potatoes to keep you going a little longer this time. You will be spoiled with more squash this week too. The ever popular and delicious delicata is one of them. The other one is spaghetti squash which seems to be popular enough that it is in the markets most of the year around. Grab your sauce and enjoy!
If you have not signed up for the winter CSA you can still do it by 11/1, this Saturday. For those who continue for the winter season, your first pick-up will be in 2 weeks, on November 11. We look forward to seeing you then. Thanks again to all of you for supporting MUSTARD SEED FARMS, your local organic farm.
