Community Garden Update Sept. 22, 2014

Hello CG members,

Pumpkin selling time is approaching. Those who have a good portion of their hours completed can sign up to sell pumpkins on the weekends in October. This is a fun way to complete the last few hours for the season. If you enjoy meeting the public, can run a cash register, and have some mathematical skills to calculate prices then maybe this is some work you can do.

I have attached the schedule for the month so you know what shifts are needed. Let us know your 1st 3 preferences by return email and we will try to schedule you the best we can. We can use 2 adults at each shift, usually with 1 running the till and the other helping wherever needed. Some of you said you wanted to sell pumpkins when you filled out your application but you can work even if you did not indicate that.

You have until Oct 31st to finish all your hours for summer and winter because the weather is usually too wet after that to do much. If you are like some members whose circumstances have not allowed them to get all of their time done, you are disappointed, but you just stop getting produce and call it good for this year.

We just dug sweet potatoes, what we call red yams, and they are in bins in the storage shed for you. Tomatoes are done and beans will be done in another week. Once we get all the giants picked and some specialty pumpkins packed winter squash harvest will start.

Thanks,

Farmer Brown
