CSA Update Sept. 22, 2014

Good evening folks,

Maybe some of you have seen our picture in Fred Meyer, along with the rest of the NW growers that sell to them. We got a real surprise a couple of weeks ago when a friend left us a message that he had seen us on a billboard in Beaverton! Our picture is up on a sign on Scholls Ferry east bound, almost to Washington Square. Another one is on I-5 southbound in north Portland by the racetracks. See them attached. What a fun surprise to see your mugs in such a prominent place!

On the weather front fall just started this evening at 7:29PM. The weather change is right on schedule with cooler refreshing temperatures that we expect in the fall, along with the rain that is coming over the next few days.

Your mix of veggies tomorrow will be Dragon’s Tongue beans, broccoli, red leaf lettuce, yellow onions, mixed mini bell peppers, and gold zucchini.

The beans are a flat cream colored bean with purple markings on them. They may look large and tough but cook up very tender and mild. The peppers are red, orange, or yellow and make a good snack and Nancy serves them with my lunch frequently. The gold zucchini is a strikingly bright change from the traditional green.

We hope you enjoy the mix this week and feel refreshed with the rain after a long hot summer.

Thanks,

Farmer Brown and His Mrs.
