Hello CSA members,
Monday’s are always interesting as we think about what possible produce we have for you and then see what we actually pick in enough quantity. The final decisions have just been made at this late afternoon time. We think we have an interesting mix, including some new items.
This may be the last week for melons so we had to give you something in that category. You will have the personal size orchid watermelon with yellow flesh. Everyone loves it’s sweet juicy flavor. With a plentiful amount of broccoli again this week, it will be included in your mix.
A couple more new items are colored peppers and white onions. We did not have enough of one color of peppers so you will have some orange and some red. It is amazing how much sweeter the colored ones are over the green. The white onions are always the first one to mature. They are a good large to JBO size this year and look outstanding. Nancy, the onion lover in the family, really thinks they taste great.
Finally your bag will fill up with 2 old favorites, zucchini and roma tomatoes. This is the first pick on our fall planting of zucchini so we hope to have some through most of October if the weather stays relatively warm. Tomatoes are past their peak but we try to have some kind for another couple of weeks.
Have a good week eating your healthy organic veggies.
